DESPITE HER TWO-year reign as the UFC’s first women’s bantamweight champion, the organisation have still not committed to giving Ronda Rousey a re-match with Holly Holm.
Rousey, of course, lost to Holm last November when she was knocked out in the second round in Melbourne but the new champion has already secured a bout against Miesha Tate at UFC 197 in Vegas on 5 March, the same night as Conor McGregor’s lightweight title bid.
This leaves the former title holder’s future up in the air and, speaking to TMZ last night, the 28-year-old confirmed she would be fighting again this year but she didn’t know where, against who or when.
“Some time later in the year,” Rousey said. “They haven’t told me an exact date or location or anything yet.”
“It’s a decision (the UFC and Rousey) are all going to make together, but I’m kind of waiting to hear from them what options they’re going to give me.”
When asked about a rematch with Holm, she was definitive:
“Of course, that’s all I want.”
A busy filming schedule also looks set to rule Rousey out of UFC 200 as she revives her acting career in a remake of the film Road House as well as the action flick Mile 22.
